- National College Student Grief Awareness Week

National Students of AMF is putting on the first-ever National College Student Grief Awareness Week April 13-20, 2008. The goal is to share our message – that grieving students are not alone, and that they can find support and understanding in peers through the programs that National Students of Ailing Mothers and Fathers and our campus chapters provide– with as many students across the nation as possible.

AGENDA FOR THE WEEK!

Everyday April 13-20: Share with others about the cause; wear black & red (colors of this cause) ribbon or clothing.

Day Zero (April 13): “Getting Ready” – Forward newsletter from National Students of AMF to your email list and visit http://www.StudentsofAMF.org to learn more info that you can share.

Day One (April 14): “Brick Awards Screening” – Watch and encourage all of your friends to watch a 2-minute YouTube video about National Students of AMF (at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CSEs34DyCUw)

Day Two (April 15): Find article about National Students of AMF in the May issue of Readers Digest (in grocery stores, gas stations, or other newsstands everywhere on April 15 OR online-click here) and purchase it so that you can show it to at least 10 friends or email the online story to your friends!

Day Three (April 16): Tell friends all about National Students of AMF and make sure that they're seen the website, brick award video, and Reader's Digest article.

Day Four (April 17): Write a card, send an email, or call someone who you know is either ill or coping with the illness or death of a loved one letting them know that you are there for them (even if the loss was over a year ago, it will still mean so much!).

Day Five (April 18): Call home or a friend to tell them about National Students of AMF: “National Students of AMF is a support network for college students, who are coping with the illness or death of a loved one. Unfortunately, this is a really big population on college campuses and, as you can imagine, something that is very difficult to deal with. Their website is studentsofamf.org The organization means a lot to me and I wanted to share it with you, so that you can also share it with others too.”

Day Six (April 19 between 7-9AM EST): Get together a group of friends and family members to watch the Weekend Today Show (7-9AM EST on NBC), which is running a story about National Students of AMF and grieving college students! (it will be posted here as soon as it is online)

Day Seven (April 20): Do something today to honor a loved one that you have lost. This could be anything from doing their favorite activity to making sure to reach out to others in ways that you may not normally.

April 21 and beyond: Continue to spread the word about National Students of AMF!
